Day 38

vacation is great!  We had the morning to relax and then headed out with Josh's parents to see Jacksonville.

"The one with the Visitor Center"

Jordan:  This was a pretty nice visitor center as far as those go.  It had a lot of helpful information about the fort we were visiting and about Jacksonville in general. 

Josh: My mom had my dad come out to get in some walking. His knee is doing much better as he heals from knee replacement surgery.

Jordan: This sign pointed the way to Fort Caroline

Josh: Fort Caroline, woah, woah, woah; so good, so good, so good.

Jordan:  It was a gorgeous day and i love being close to the water again!

Josh: We saw a few dolphins swimming in the water here.

Jordan:  This hut was on the trail on the way to see Fort Caroline.  I think Josh was pretending to be a French Soldier from back then....or he was just hiding from mosquitos 

Josh: I was thinking about setting up shop in this hut until the mosquitos came out to play. They don't play nice. Mosquitos, I want to make a truce. If you don't bite me, I won't smash you. Deal?

"The one where we made it to Fort Caroline"

Jordan:  it was a beautiful spot, but the fort was kind of low.....and it wasn't too big.  I think I understand why the French may have lost that one

Josh: The French were pretty hip I guess. They had a moat to surround the fort. Why don't people have moats anymore.

"The one with the wall of protection"

Jordan:  It kind of looks like a tee pee fort.

Josh: I like forts. We should go see another one tomorrow.

"The one with the ladies in front of Fort Caroline"

Jordan:  we had to take a shot in front of the fort....it's a touristy thing to do

Josh: Jordan made a friend, my mom.

"The one with the BEACH!"

Jordan:  We drove around the town this afternoon and we stopped to take a look at the beach...we'll be heading back there soon

Josh: I think I am going to get you bigger sun glasses.

"The one where we played cards"

Jordan:  Family vacation wouldn't be complete without a card game!
